HellO, WOrld!

OMG! It’s so hard to find my words and describe my experience at the first Lollapalooza festival organized in Europe. Because it was magnificent! With so many breathtaking moments, with such a great vibe and thousands and thousands of people having a great time at Tempelhoff Arena in Berlin. And also, it was my birthday, right in the first day of the festival! #happybirthdaytome

But what is Lollapalooza? It’s an annual music festival featuring popular alternative rock, heavy metal, punk rock, hip hop , dance, comedy performances and craft booths. It was conceived and created in 1991 by Jane’s Addiction singer Perry Farrell as a farewell tour for his band, and since 2005 is based in Chicago. But in 2010 the organizers announced the debut of Lollapalooza outside the States, first in Chile, and then in Brazil. And now, they decided to cross the ocean and came to Europe. And where else than Berlin, the alternative capital of European coolness? From my point of view, they made the perfect choice. Organizers have invited 120 artists to play at Berlin’s former Tempelhof Airport. The lineup includes Muse, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Fatboy Slim, as well as many street artists, cooks and designers. In Chicago in July, the three-day event that featured, among many others, the likes of Paul McCartney and Metallica, attracted 160,000 punters. In Berlin, I guess there were more than 100.000.

And they had to choose between 4 stages, two main stages, one Alternative scene and Perry’s Stage (named after the creator of Lollapalooza), and a huge line-up, with more than 120 names on it. Sometimes it was quite hard to choose what to see, but I decided to let myself in carried away by the music. So, in the first day I chose Parov Stelar and Bastille at the Main Stage , Churches on the Alternative Stage, and Skrillex & Boys Noize (Dog Blood) and Fatboy Slim at the Perry’s Stage. OMG, I danced like crazy, even if I had to jump around with my heavy boots for hours. And the best moment happen in the front of the Perry’s Stage, during the Fatboy Slim show, when a huge inflatable birthday cake landed right on my head. It was a sign, because, I remind you, it was my birthday! YEEEY!! 100.000 people celebrating together with me, well, that’s a first!

The second day it was easier, because we already knew the place. So we spend most of the time in the front of the Main Stage one, were we enjoyed the live show of Belle & Sebastian, Sam Smith and in the end, MUSE. We ended at Time Impala show, the band that actually closed the first edition of Lollapalooza Berlin, drinking the last beer. Because yeah, I drank a lot of beer in those two days, more than I drunk in all 2015.  But this is Germany, you can’t think at other kind of alcohol since you are here. 🙂 #prost

As a conclusion, I must say that I can’t wait for the next #lollaberlin, that was already announced for the 10&11 September 2016. Even if this time most of the headliners I knew from Electric Castle Festival or Summer Well, the Festival itself it was a great and unforgetable experience. Even the huge queues at the toilets in the first day. Or the small problems with the free Wi-Fi. But the music it the one that counts. And the people, the beautiful people that came at Lollapalooza.

And now I let the music speak, inviting you to watch my videos with my favorite moments from Lollapalooza Berlin 2015. Enjoy!

Auf Wiedersehen, Lolla! You were amazing! Thank you for my best birthday party ever!

See you in 2016!

LOve,

O.

P.S. I payed almost 120 Euros for a ticket at Lollapalooza, for both days of the festival, in an early booking offer. I flight with Air Berlin, and it was a very good choice (actually, they are the only airplane company that operates direct flights between Bucharest and Berlin). I bought the ticket 3 weeks before my holiday, and I payed almost 240 Euros, including the travel insurance. It was an almost 2 hours flight, and we landed at the Tegel Airport, You have many connection from here with downtown Berlin, but I recommend you to take the bus (TXL), which is very cheap – only 2,70 Euros per ticket, and very comfortable. If you prefer to take a taxi, the price (to Alexanderplatz) is almost 30 Euros.

The Project Friday is in LOVE with O. it’s realized with the special support of Molecule F, and it’s a tribute to Romanian designers.

Outfit: Molecule-F T. and Marabeca scarf available on Molecule-F, Diesel trousers, Adidas Superstar sneakers, H&M sunglasses, The Stories of O. bracelet

HellO, WOrld!

OMG!

Din 2005 se organizeaza in Chicago, pe durata a 3 zile, iar in 2010 a avut loc prima editie Lollapalooza in afara Statelor Unite, in Chile. Festivalul a mai ajuns in Brazilia iar anul acesta a trecut pentru prima data oceanul, pentru a ajunge in Europa. Si unde anume putea sa fie organizat, daca nu in capitala europeana a culturii alternative, Berlinul?

Recunosc, am baut in astea doua zile mai multa bere decat am baut in tot anul 2015! Dar nah, eram in Germania, si ce alternativa as fi avut?  Bere, bere, bere!

Ne revedem in 2016!

LOve,

  O.
